Yeah, per core and per game settings work great on HexaEco, and setting the emulators up is much easier and faster than official, not to mention far less annoying and much clearer, I still don'r get why you need to jump across several menus to change picture and aspect ratio settings on official, and how often when done and changing to another core the settings are now used in every other too.

In fact it wasn't until recently that I tried messing with arcade games because of the constant change in resolution, but after understanding how per game config works, it is seamless once done, albeit a slow process.

It's even just as useful for customized control schemes for games.

My only issue is that you NEED to get a Classic Controller to remap the screenshot button, specially since i preffer using a SNES controller for everything that isnt PSX/N64 and Wii and GC titles, every time you change configs per core, thats the shitty part.

A version of RetroArch for Wii that overhauled the interface and added/fixed a number of features, distancing itself from the official releases significantly.

I never mapped the screenshot, I'm used to just go into the menu myself. I use a Classic Controller Pro for almost everything on RA, except when it's something like Nes or GB that need far less buttons so I can use the GC controller if I don't feel like using the wiimote's battery. The extra triggers on CC are handy for things like fast forward, or FDS disk changing.

I never got a change to grab an official SNES one, I always thought they are kinda cool.

SS-Sega updated.
SS-Super Nintendo released.
SS-Hexaeco Complete Mod released.

It's a bummer SuperrSonic will no longer be releasing updated full packs. So i thought the next best thing was to make my modified pack available. It has around 55 different cores included and you can use my RA-Hexaeco forwarder channel for the mod.

I'm trying to update my Unibios to 4.0. i've added the rom to neogeo.zip and placed it in the same folder as the game rom but I am still getting Unibios 3.2. Any ideas?

Metal Slug 3 and Real Bout FF Special by any chance not working?

I am 99% sure the BIOS are giving you issues.
@Okko and I have found the fix/solution.

1. Take your neogeo.zip BIOS and extract the files into a folder, then remove the neogeo.zip from the folder.... Now remove these files if they are present...
uni-bios_3_3.rom
uni-bios_3_2.rom
uni-bios_3_1.rom

2. Search for and download the free and legal current uni-bios 4.0 BIOS. Now extract to your desktop and rename the file to (uni-bios_3_0.rom).

3. Now drag and drop the file you just renamed into the extracted BIOS folder. Yes overwrite the file when prompted.

4. Now highlight all files inside the extracted BIOS folder and ZIP the contents naming to (neogeo.zip)

5. Now drop the NEW neogeo.zip into the folder where your NEO roms are, start WFL and for example sakes, select and boot Metal Slug. Most likely you will get the famous NEO bios boot.

6. Press Home on Wiimote...scroll to and select Options...scroll down to and select BIOS...scroll dow to and select Universe BIOS ver. 3.0.

7. Now Quit RetroArch, back to WFL and boot Metal Slug again. Neo-Geo Universe BIOS 4.0 should boot now...

If you press A,1,2 simultaneously during BIOS screen you can change between USA, Europe, Japan Arcade or Console BIOS. Some games have extra content available in Arcade mode, other things are altered depending what region you set also.

Hope this helps you out and these new modified BiOS work 100% with both RA and SS-Hexaeco.

@Charco
Try this above.

Ah great, thanks for this, I'll try that now and get back with the results!

Yep, that worked! Thanks!

I have each of my Neo Geo roms in individually named folders as RA doesn't parse the rom names and display the full names, so this was a workaround. I guess I'll be busy replacing the bios files in each folder for a while 😂

Edit: @RunningSnakes is Samurai Shodown V Perfect working on this core?

After testing both SS5 and SS5 Special. They both seem to be running full speed with no slowdown but both do have minor screen flashing when landing punches/kicks combos. I am not sure if this is normal behavior but would guess it is not normal.

I have both of those games, but does the Samsho V Perfect rom work? The one that was extracted from the Samsho Collection that came out. It works for me in FBNeo core on PC and on my Steam Deck.

Also, the screen flashes like that on actual hardware, so it's not an emulation bug.

@grandosegood
Let me test on my side. I thought it started up but cannot recall.

@Charco
Using normal RA/Mod, i consider Pico core very good but saving does not work (freeze/dump). Using RA-SS, i consider it only working but not good.

thanks for your reply, i just got it working with .78 version of the rom, but the game is slow in general. is it just a limitation of the wii, or something i'm doing wrong?

I believe limitations of the Wii is the issue. You could try to toggle with frameskip, but for sports games frameskipping is usually a deal breaker.
