So yeah, what a month. I don't think I mention this month has been extra upsetting at the passing of Satoru Iwata. I still remember I was playing Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate with Terenigma when my phone alert went off and I saw on Twitter that he had passed on, I initially thought it was a prank or something but soon the reality set in that he was really dead. I found this to be really sad as I now think of him being the living, breathing representation of everything Nintendo for as a company. Thinking back to the Wii and DS era, both were created because Iwata wanted to create brand new experiences for customers in the face of a growing hardware arms race. The Lord knows Iwata and Nintendo could be frustrating with there stubbornness and refusal to adapt to certain trends but everything Iwata was about is creating fun games, developing new experiences for players. Now that he is gone I do wonder if things will ever quite be the same at Nintendo but I guess time will tell.
So from bad news to some better news, one of our dogs, Little, seemed to down in the dumps, after taking her to the vet a couple of times it turned out that she had an infected uterus. After a debate on whether we should let her live or go, we decided to have the surgery to fix her up, which so far has been a huge success. Se has been full of energy and running around like a puppy again which warms my heart for an 12 year old dog.
So back to some gaming talk, I managed to beat Batman - Arkham Knight. Despite issues with the PC version it played relatively well on my rig, only one crash and that was due to some bad data. As for the game? I really really enjoyed it, the Batmobile was a bit overdone but after getting used to how it handles it was great fun to go around speeding in Gotham although the tank sections seemed to be a dime a dozen, they got boring quick. Short of that I think Rocksteady made a great game. Sort of that it has been Monster Hunter 4 time again, I managed to finish off the story mode so I am now just enjoying the online play and trying to get the best armors I can. At this rate for the amount of time I have been playing this I think I could easily call Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate one of my games of the year.
So going back to a thread I ain't hit on a in a while, finding retro goodies in thrift stores. So this month I managed to find on the N64, Starcraft 64 and Star Wars Episode 1 Racer. Never really played with Starcraft myself but Episode 1 Racer I have fond enough memories of back in the day, despite the draw distance on it being piss poor and looking a bit rougher than I remembered I was surprised to see it still runs fairly solid and at a good speed. I also managed to find Castlevania 2 : Simon's Quest for the Nes as well as Super Monkey Ball 2 on the Gamecube and Devil May Cry for the PlayStation 2, OutRun 2 for the Xbox and Halo 3 and ODST for the Xbox 360, all in all not a bad month for me on that.
Now for a subject I am sure we are all sick about of hearing, Amiibos. This month I imported Ganon, Zero Suit Samus, Greninja, Dr Mario and Bowser Jr. I got lucky and via GameStop I was able to order Pit and King Dedede and also picked up Palutena from Amazon last week, while picking up Dark Pit this morning. It is nice to see the collection is finally starting to become complete, I managed to place an order for Marth today on import so it shouldn't be long before that hopefully turns up.
Right, that is as much as I am sharing for now, I got a holiday coming up soon so i'm going to enjoy some sun, sex and beer, possibly not in that order either, adios
