LTTP MGS Peacewalker

All caught up for MGSV (played every mainline game finally; MGS1->MGS2->MGS3->MGS4-MGSPW -> MGSGZ)

Now on to my thoughts

Positives:
+ Gameplay-wise I enjoyed it. Maps were definitely small and designed to be for a portable game but they fit well with the mission structure of the game. Fulton recovery is pretty fun as a gameplay element. And while stealth is absolutely a non-factor in this game, for the PSP, it was fine.

+ Looks great for a PSP game when played on one but framerate is absolutely ass. Thank god I finished it using the HD collection as that framerate was making me struggle even at some easy bosses.

+ Comic-book style cutscenes were cool and worked well considering the PSP's technical power.

+ Some cool moments especially for a PSP game like the 'Head to the Control Tower' mission that ends with you fighting a helicopter while 'Heavens Divide' starts playing.

+ The Motherbase mechanic is actually pretty cool. Pretty excited to check out a full-fledged version of it MGSV.

Negatives:
- Story was fucking dumb even for a Metal Gear game. It's a stretch to have a doctor design an AI based on 'The Boss' in the 70s. It's an even bigger stretch to have said doctor design this AI based on her personality in order to find out information about whether The Boss defected. It's a humongous stretch to believe that this 'Peace Walker' tank with The Boss's personality self-destructs at the end and starts singing and going into the fucking question so as not to set off the nuke.

And then there's Paz half-naked for some reason in Metal Gear Zeke revealing herself to be a traitor acting for Zero or whatever. Actually that specific plot-point wasn't so bad but I didn't even see that in-game. Watched the "true ending" on Youtube because fuck grinding and fuck Zadornov.

- Come on, singing AI robots?

- Okay we're going to explain what "nuclear deterrence" is cause you're dumb and you don't know. Then we're going to re-explain it in another cutscene with diagrams and shit so you really understand. Then we're going to repeat the word a billion times and then go over it all once again at the end because really you're stupid and you probably still don't get it.

- Fuck that torture sequence. Had to connect my PS4 controller just so I could press the button fast enough to beat that third sequence. Really fuck that.

Ranking the MGS games, I'll probably have to give it some thought but for now;
MGS3 > MGS2 > MGS4 > MGS1 > MGSPW

i would probably go mgs1>mgs3>mgs2>mgspw>mgs4. Its been a few years now but I recall having a good time with Peace Walker

Peace Walker wasn't that farfetched, I dug the singing robots, having the back story in mind. You should still try MG1 and 2 sometime to fully appreciate MGS1 (Twin Snakes is the preferable version here, at least IMO). Maybe Ghost Babel/MGS Color if you get the chance (spin-off, but it's fun). Ac!d and Portable Ops on the other hand... couldn't get into them.

G
because vita = 20 fps peacewalker

which really sucks
