Craigslist Scammed

in my hunt for retro SEGA stuff, I was scammed.

I paid $50 for what I was convinced would be a working bundle of a SNES 2, Genesis 1 and SEGA CD 1, with 2 remotes for the SNES and genesis each and 4 SNES games, and that if anything was not working as I tested it my money would be refunded.

The SNES 2 had no sound, but rather a loud buzzing noise throughout.
The Genesis had a horrid picture and cart wobbling caused problems.
The SEGA CD had a broken disc drive, and just didn't load games at all.
And suddenly the seller won't come back.

Be smart.

Stay off of craigslist.

Now I have to see if there's any way I can make the money back selling this crap as "for parts".

The games are super punchout, kirby's avalanche, ms pac man and frogger, and all work fine on their own, if I can get anything for them maybe I can recoup my losses a little.

I honestly don't know, though.

Just stay off of craigslist.

craigslist is fine if you're not dumb. I test everything before I hand over cash and I'm careful when selling. I always use craigslist it's awesome

Test before paying.

Seller wont let you test before paying? Seller is a scammer. It's not difficult.
Or get the seller to agree to let you pick up the items at his home. Shit don't work?
Grab your baseball bat and go to town, you know where he lives now.

dad would never let people from craigslist we don't know come in the house. and he'd never let me go to a stranger's house either.

With this in mind, going after games on craigslist is a pretty useless endeavor for me.

I'm going to try to fix these, though. At least the SEGA CD boots up fine, it just needs some disc drive re-adjustment and I'm reading up to find out how to adjust it. I don't know if the SNES 2 can be saved.

I usually get people to test their games for me.

I know Super Punch Out goes for a pretty penny as well.

I dunno.

whenever I deal with anyone I always keep in mind that this person might be trying to scam me. I've avoided a lot of trouble by keeping that mindset

Ebay>Craigslist

At least sellers will tell you if something is broke usually in the item description.

And even if they say no refunds, eBay protects you. If you get anything that differs from the description, you can make them give the money back.

Haven't had a problem with eBay so far, and I've been buying and selling for a while.
