i really like that DS ML. I know it's just a DS motherboard inside an aftermarket case designed in China, but it's a novelty.

all I got is a GBA SP (from my dad) a DS Lite (also from my dad) and a 3DS (ironically, my dad bought it for me)

or, at least, presented it to me
  • A @ anotherthing:
I just got the New 3DS and the DS ML. AliExpress had the DS ML on sale for $32. It cost $40 total with shipping, but it came with a wall charger and a USB charge cable.

My wife went to Japan and that's how I got the New 3DS.

I really want an explanation on why removing the cartridge and letting it boot for ten minutes worked.

  • Kirbydogs @ Kirbydogs:
@anotherthing probably something to do with the NAND chips
  • Kirbydogs @ Kirbydogs:
they require power to store data
  • Kirbydogs @ Kirbydogs:
could've been the 3DS had been storing the power for too long
  • Kirbydogs @ Kirbydogs:
or maybe a microscopic solar flare made the 3DS freak out and explode the cart
  • Kirbydogs @ Kirbydogs:
idk I'm not the sun deciding to piss off a random person and that random person in particular
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@anotherthing, The DS ML has been around since 2013, they've been made for over a decade by now. They're pretty cool.

The cartridge I pulled out was one of those Ace3DS+ clones that was one of the 208&423 in 1 deals.

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@anotherthing, Parts of the game are still in memory when you take out the cartridge.

  • A @ anotherthing:
@SylverReZ Yeah, I've been aware of them. The $32 price tag was too good to pass up.

I figured the only thing in memory would be the cartridge ID and the icon. I haven't loaded anything off it in a while.
  • A @ anotherthing:
Though, that cartridge is what I learned to build Ace3DS stuff from.
  • A @ anotherthing:
The funny thing is, I made my own icons for it too before I found a repository of icons for things that it didn't have within the kernal.
  • A @ anotherthing:
In fact, I think it was one of your posts where I discovered the icon repository for those icons.
