Hacking Someone please Help!!!!! Switch not charging at all.....

So I recently modded a switch for my 4 year old son, I was using atmosphere and haven't had any problems with it in months. I finally let him take it to his grandmas over the weekend and he came home saying that it wouldn't charge. I didn't have auto RCM on so it shouldn't be that I have tried every single possible thing that you could google, but no matter what i do i cannot get it to charge past the Nintendo logo it shows a red battery and shuts off. Any insights into this or why this may be happening would greatly be apricated thank you in advance.

Since neither you nor your kid touched the software (like upgrading the firmware, etc...) It sounds like a hardware issue. It could be your USB connector coming lose, in which case, you have to touch-up the solder or replace it. I'm speculating of course. Post your question in the hardware section to see if anyone has a suggestion to diagnose this issue.

I just thought about this but if they tried connecting it to the wifi is there a chance it could have tried auto updating causing problems there?

Put it on the dock and hold the power button for like 20 seconds. You should see the screen turn on, then off again, and battery indicator should also disappear. Leave it charging for a few hours and come back and check on it.

ive tryed this more then a few times with no luck, ive tryed diffrent cords, ive tryed charging it with my pc its to the point it wont even show a dead battery sign and ive tryed leaving it for a full day and night on a charger

Try disconnecting the battery and reconnecting (best would be to try charge it outside switch).

I can't remember well but TronicsFix had 1 with a bad battery, I can't remember the symptoms but I thinks it's something like that, it doesn't turn ON to system menu neither charges and after he put a known good one, Switch entered high charge mode and was normally working.

Anyway if you charge it outside the switch you can check if it's even receiving charge or just dropping voltage like crazy after stop feeding it with power that's a dead Lion if it acts like that as even if it accepts charge it will self discharge by it self pretty fast which is just trash...

Are you 100% sure that autoRCM is not on?
If your Switch has autoRCM, and you do not send a payload, it will just show a black screen when it boots. This black screen is indistinguishable from the Switch just being off. The system will not charge while on this black screen. When you plug in the system to charge it, the system tries to power on. However, since you're not injecting a payload, it just stays on the black screen. Since it can't charge on the black screen, the system does not get charged. The way to fix this is to plug in the system, hold down the power button for a good 10 seconds to turn it off (since it's on the black screen), and wait five minutes for it to charge. Then unplug it from the charger and turn the system on while injecting the payload. Once you have the system actually booted, you can put it back on the charger to let the battery charge the rest of the way.
If it doesn't work the first time, don't panic. You probably just turned the system ON whenever you held the power button instead of OFF. It's impossible to tell whether the system is on or off without injecting the payload. If it won't boot with the payload injected, it means the battery is still dead and to try charging it again. And if you're using something like an SX Pro dongle, make sure the dongle is charged as well (takes less than five seconds to charge it).

I charged it all night nothing and i cant get it to charge even just that littel bit to push a payload i thought about swapping battries out from a new on i got or would it make sense to clear out the sd card and start over with the programs like my atomsphere and stuff

If there's something wrong with the charging circuit or the USB-C connector, the Switch is not going to charge. Watch this video at around 8:30 point: . Of course you have to have one of those USB Volt/Amp Meters (around $20 on Amazon). I've tested out on my own Switch, normal charging behavior when you plug in the switch is that the current will initially draw 0.46A (slow charge), then jump to 1.1A after a few seconds (fast charge). If you don't see the Switch drawing any current, chances are, nothing you can do to the SD card that will make it charge.

But yeah, can be something software related as it can be hardware on like 1 of 2 chips or USB-C port as it can also be the battery...

I'd test the battery, if it's much lower than 3Volts chances are high to be bad and even if it's 3V or slightly higher doesn't mean everything as the battery can also be bad.

In terms of hardware battery is the easiest to check, if it's on a chip will require skills to replace them...

Is it an Erista or Mariko unit?
