Is there anyway currently to get certain amiibo's for games? i'd like to use it for TPHD but I don't have the amiibos that came with it.

No. You must use the ntags. They're cheap and worth it. I have a stack of 10 and I've only used 4

Forgot to mention. You have to have an android phone that has NFC support.

You use the amiibo power save that comes with a power tag.
