    @hippy dave thank you so much. 3.26 from the link you sent works like a charm. I don't know why 3.25 from the ezflash.cn was not working. For the benefit of anyone who has the same problem -- I am running the tool in QEMU (x86 32bit) on a Mac.

    Thanks @slaphappygamer that's what I meant when I said that version v3 from ezflash.cn does not work. I see that there used to be version 1.07, but it's nowhere to be found (also not on the web archive). (Google > "GBA EZ- Client software drivers for EZ-Flash" // unfortunately I cannot post links)
