ROM Hack Question ROM Cheats
I got cheats to work in Mgba for the wii. It is probably the same for the switch. You have to use the pc version to create your cheats. You load your rom on Mgba on pc and then go to tools. Find your Gba cheats for GameShark or codebreaker. Just copy and paste the cheats into the codes...- SlipperyPete430

you just rename the .txt cheat file with your newer game ID. Mine is SMNE03 for example. You just place that in your txtcodes folder you already have and then create the gct file in USBloader gx like you said. This method works for any of the new super Mario wii mods.- SlipperyPete430

Homebrew Ocarina Download for USB Loader GX
I believe you just take the txt code from new super Mario wii and change the name to your newer super Mario. For example nsmb is SMNE01.txt and my newer is SMNE03.txt. Then you can create your gct file in USB loader gx. It has been years since I created mine, but that's what I remember doing.- SlipperyPete430
