Personally, I'm more inclined to go with MinGW/MSYS/MSYS2 over WSL. This might change when the Windows Terminal becomes a thing. @The Real Jdbye - According to ProtonDB of the top 1000 games, 56% are Gold+. Yet a lot of people are labeling stuff as Gold+ when you have to read ProtonDB (or similar) to do workarounds for some games to even launch. I've used Windows 10 Pro on a toaster laptop (a Core 2 Duo 2.27GHz 4GB system).
