What ultimately fixed it for me was uninstalling all my hmods, including custom ones, then using the debug version of hakchi to uninstall hakchi followed by restoring my original kernel.     mednafen_pce_fast.hmod use that module. TG16 in Japan was the PC-Engine, as in pce.

    Check your rom, if you're using the reference set for mame2003 it should work just fine.

    Those are tricky, make sure you have the parent rom first of all. Secondly, I believe my Ssf2 only works in FBA.

    As always, its likely the version of the rom you are using. I ran into this quite a bit, it helps to go off of reference sets for whichever emulator core you intend on using.

    I've tried all of that, I'm afraid at this point my only options are to try to restore the file system, and/or remove the etc/libretro folder and hope that solves it. I think it could be done with a custom hmod file as long as the script can execute.

    I have my original kernel and have tried uninstalling and flashing back on versions 2.08 through 2.12 and nothing removes the black screen. I believe its a problem with the filesystem. Flashing works fine, it completes without fail, the NESCE will just not get to the menu screen.
