Hacking Would like SX Core install guidance

i just put a sxcore into my switch yesterday. but i havent done more than the nand backup yet cause im buying a larger and better microsd card to put in. but i have some feedback honestly if you have experience with microsoldering this one isnt too bad. 0201 capacitors are tiny and all. but...

first of all. shorten the wires. second of all. i dont think the transcend reader works on new3dsxl with samsung nand. atleast it didnt for me. i can confirm the startech reader works on new3dsxl samsung nand

first of all clean off that flux with some ethanol. secondly. looks like they all could be shorting. get some solder wick and suck up that solder. especially the top middle pin looks like it might be sohrting.

you either have a short somewhere or you broke your nand. use a multimeter to check for a short circuit

basicly. the only time there should be an error is when booting with the sd card reader attached. if its giving you a bootrom error with the cable completely disconected then you have a short on the mobo or internal connector if it gives you an error with the franken-sd attached but not when...

yeah that all looks good. the only thing i did differently is use the regular clk rather than the alt clock, but that really shouldnt matter. if you have samsung brand on your nand. i can guarantee you the startech reader in the topic will work.

That card reader is supposed to work. so my best guess is either your wires are too long. or there is something wrong with your soldering. most probably the former. https://i.imgur.com/ahWiw5u.jpg this is how short i had to make the wiring for my 3ds. also use a multimeter to check for any...

there are a set if way way smaller pads you can use on a new3dsxl and probably a new3ds. but if you lifted the big and easy pads. you will have no chance soldering those. i suggest leaving well enough alone and trying to find somebody with a 3ds to help you downgrade or if you are on version...

if your 3ds still boots. then i wouldnt touch it. if it doesnt still boot. odds are you permanently bricked it. atleast for your level of soldering skills.

again. why bother. with 7 pins a dump is like abit over 1 minute. with 4 lines it is about 5 minutes.how often do you plan on dumping? because those 4 minutes saved is meaningless

you dont really need the extra speed. just using 1 dat line.you can dump and write the nand in around 5 minutes. but if you really must. look up a pinout of a sd card on google. it will show you which pin is dat1. dat2. dat3. then just solder from the dat1, 2, and 3 pads to those pins

Once you dump your nand and have verified you have a good dump by getting the same dump multiple times. you follow this guide https://3ds.guide/hardmod-downgrade to downgrade the nfirm on your nand dump. and then you use your hardmod to write the dump back onto the 3ds using the tool you used to...

you can try looking on ebay/craigslist or whatever for a 3ds with a broken screen or something and swapping the motherboard from that into your device. you probably only broke the nand chip. so if you replace the entire mobo you will be fine.

you might have fried somethign by sending electricity through it. asuming it booted propperly before that. you might have caused 2 parts of the hardmod connector you are using to pinch together and short. test with a multimeter. but if there are noshorts you probably fried it.

there was a short SOMEWHERE. maybe in your frankensd. maybe on your motherboard. next time. use a multimeter with continuity testing to find the short.

do it 2 3 times just to make sure it dumps the same every time. you only need to keep 1. the doing it multiple times is just to make sure theres not corruption being caused by a bad reader. a bad soldering job. too long wires. whatever

you probably have wires or something pressing into the back of the screen. you can try loosening the pcb a bit over where the grey dots are to see if it helps.

oh thats way too long Here is a photo of my internal hardmod and franken sd. it had to be about that short before it would allow me to write. though reads worked with a bit longer wire. its a new3dsxl so you can extrapolate cable lenght from that. but anyways. you will also probably need a new...

yeah. id buy the anker or startech reader before taking a look at the soldering but you can take a photo of how long your wires are. they might do with being shorter. As in. before you start troubleshooting the soldering and potentially damaging the 3ds. buy 1 of those 2 readers. and try again...
