What Programming Language do I need to learn to make games?

Nintendo has used primarily assembly, C, and C++ in coding their games. Though, depends on your goals here. Personally, I recommend learning C just for the sake of knowing it. You'll also find largely that no matter what language you use, there's a way to make a game in it.

Homebrew Retroarch Emulation Thread (Nightly Builds Included)

Remember that Retroarch is a reference implementation of the Libretro API. It's designed to do everything, and its feature set is large and growing. It's impressive, even, that such a large feature set is so portable, but let's not forget the breadth of the project in general. The best solution...

Preach, man. If this scene needs anything, it's patience.

One thing you can do [fair warning] is scan directories to add them to your collection. Though, expect this to take about an hour per 500 items scanned, in my experience. If you have a small collection of files with distinct extensions, you can also just group them together in the same folder.

Oh wow. I guess I was asking the wrong question, then. I switched to n3ds and now I can't take advantage of that :P Do you suppose it's possible?

Homebrew Retroarch Emulation Thread (Nightly Builds Included)

@aliaspider At some point in an older nightly, there was a way to draw at 800x240, and have the parallax barrier remain closed. This resulted in double brightness, and double horizontal resolution, at the cost of a slight bloom effect. Can you re-enable that? I love being able to maintain an...

Oh, you mean the logo? Because that's what snes9x looked like in 2002, of course. Anyone old enough to remember that logo will definitely get a kick out of it, that's why I chose it.

The font is the same, it's the outline that affects the look. However, I could have done it this way.

If I remove the outline, the 2002 becomes invisible on light backgrounds. There isn't a great alternative, other than perhaps moving it upwards so that it inherits the purple BG? Would be crowded, though.

Homebrew 3DSThem.es - Your new destination for custom 3DS themes

@erman1337 possible to implement any sort of quality control system? I'd love to filter out anything that has visible low quality. Could be done through public tags/filtering (think "stretched" tag, etc.). I'd avoid a direct rating system because of fandom bias, and general negativity, though...

PR has been made of the icons/banners Read it if you want to know when they'll be put in. They're in now, and should hopefully show up in the next build. And here's the source of the vectors Again, I'm open to any suggestions or modifications. They were a nice project, and I think some look...

Well, all these icons are backed by vectors. So, it wouldn't be insane to layer them out in 3d at some point.

Homebrew (Question) Switching emulators keeps save files?

The file extension matters, but so does the save format. Google can lead you to emulator save converters if you do need one, so don't give up just because the formats differ. That being said, back up your saves before converting and keep your old emulator around.

ok. More or less finished icons and banners. Took about 8 hours for all of them. I'm going to post them here for criticism. After I fix/adjust anything, I'll make a PR of them. If you have other suggestions for MAME cabs, logos that I've missed, etc. just let me know. Also I like the cave...
