Yep, it's a Go (I'm using 4.01 for the Go from your GitHub). I only have 3 plugins: category_lite (VSH), cdda_enabler (POPS) and popsloader (POPS). My system is 6.60 running Pro-C Infinity. Thanks for the reply!
I'm new to the PSP scene, when trying to boot this the app instantly crashes and returns to VSH for me. All other homebrew boots fine. What could be the issue?
There's no way a hacky emulator running on a PSP CPU core is faster than the multithreaded ARM Vita emulators. Even the best build of UO gpSP Kai is filled with graphical glitches and slowdown, whereas mGBA standalone works fairly well on Vita and RetroArch is pretty decent too with the actual...
Yep, the end goal is just somehow improving a little bit the weird pixel shape and matrix used by the 3DS, as it doesn´t go so well with traditional sprite-based games.
If I´m not mistaken, enabling this mode but doing no scaling at all (pixel perfect) should make every individual pixel building the image look smaller too, right? Instead of the duplicated squares.
All 3DS models (except the o2DS) have a screen with a particular matrix where pixels are slightly distant vertically, and you have double the horizontal resolution (800px). When using 3D, each doubled horizontal pixel goes to a different eye using a parallax barrier, so two different images can...
GPU scaling makes AGB slightly blurrier, but I love it. Is there any particular reason for the “health warning” in the patch menu? Does it hurt the LCD?
There´s two people that might know about this, Sono and Robz8. But as far as I´m aware that message isn´t handled by the ARM9, it´s handled by the "capture card" the 3DS boots
The "3D" screen is a regular screen, with a parallax barrier added in front of the LCD to divert half of the horizontal resolution to each eye. The New 2DS XL uses the same screen, without the parallax barrier. As to why doing that? Because they can just keep the exact same production line and...
The 3DS and New 2DS have such a weird pixel matrix that 800px is really transformative, it makes 3D games have smoother edges and pixel art looks a hell of a lot better, even textures are improved. What a dream it would be if more games used it.
Any instructions for building as a .cia? My current approach of naming it "boot.3dsx" and loading from the Homebrew Launcher .cia wrapper just to get SM64 on my homescreen is... less than ideal
Although not requiring CIA forwarders is a nice feature... Being compatible with them is certainly important if it ever becomes a true replacement for AGB_FIRM, part of the charm of using a 3DS is precisely having so many systems right in the native home menu.
Now with GPU scaling for AGB_FIRM and TWL_FIRM... Could we enable 800px mode? This would (finally!) display correct pixel art on the 3DS, as in, square pixels would be actually square. Even without any upscaling, just native res at 800px mode would look amazing. How feasible is it?
Toggling this patch boots TWL_FIRM (DS mode) and, if you use the secret menu, AGB_FIRM (GBA mode) with their native resolution without having to keep START or SELECT pressed while booting, which is the default behaviour. This is good for people that want to avoid any scaling whatsoever.
