Homebrew Retroarch Emulation Thread (Nightly Builds Included)

Just for curiosity can someone explain with technical details why dynarec functions require a .cia installer? I can understand that you need kernel access (to set memory RWX I can imagine, I guess a "normal" app should not be able to do this), but what would prevent a .3dsx running the dynarec...

Tutorial [Tutorial] Installing rxTools Custom Firmware - (3DS and 2DS)

Thanks a lot for help. I found the answer to the problem and posted it here: https://gbatemp.net/threads/release-rxtools-roxas75-3ds-toolkit-fw-2-0-9-2.382782/page-722 I was missing cetk files. I guess that this only applies to the current nightly build and might evolve in the future.

    Hacking [Release] rxTools - Roxas75 3DS Toolkit [fw 2.0 - 9.2]

I know things are moving fast on the git so keeping up to date with the tutorials here, documentation, etc is not an easy task. To clear things out: the cetk are required for both for O3DS and N3DS. Adding the download of these files with cdn_firm.py is trivial. From the source and from my...

    Hacking [Release] rxTools - Roxas75 3DS Toolkit [fw 2.0 - 9.2]

Here is the readme of the latest nightly build (c1a3784.rar): OLD 3DS Move firm directory (run tools/cdn_firm.py to download it) to release/rxTools, then copy the contents of the release/rxTools folder to the root of your SD card. NEW 3DS Download 9.5 **encrypted** NATIVE_FIRM...

    Hacking [Release] rxTools - Roxas75 3DS Toolkit [fw 2.0 - 9.2]

Some information usefull for anyone willing to install rxtools nightly build. When launching rxtools I always had an error while after "installation data suite": "installation data suite failed" Solution is easy: you need cek files for every corresponding *.bin file in the firm directory. You...

Tutorial [Tutorial] Installing rxTools Custom Firmware - (3DS and 2DS)

Hi, I have a crazy problem with rxTools 3.0 nightlies. I managed to launch rxTools the first time without error even though installation was very long but now I always have an error "installation data suite failed" (quite long to get there). But... rxTools and rxMode will work. Any idea?

Homebrew Retroarch Emulation Thread (Nightly Builds Included)

You are totally right. The default settings are: 0 and 242 which makes 243 lines and should be 0 to 241 (242 lines). Changing this setting effectively removes the "garbled" line at the bottom. I am not sure if I should open a ticket on github for such a small defect (change the default to 241)...

Homebrew Retroarch Emulation Thread (Nightly Builds Included)

@aliaspider : thanks a lot for fixing the pce_fast core. I guess you might have noticed there is a small video bug: the last horizontal line is full of garbage (in every rom I have tested). I guess there is a tiny bug like a +1 or -1 which is wrong somewhere in screen size calculation. Keep up...
