Tutorial [HOW-TO] Have a homemade Streetpass Relay

It certainly was a pain in the ass. :) I had very little idea what I was doing with the command line in Linux, particularly for the final step (TFTP). Got it all squared away, though, and it works! I'm changing the MACs manually. Going to try Duke's WRT script here in the next day or so.

Tutorial [HOW-TO] Have a homemade Streetpass Relay

Thanks, DevilSpork! Would you know where to point me to where I may find the proper DD-WRT micro? I'd rather end up frying the old Linksys than the router all my home stuff is attached to. :)

Tutorial [HOW-TO] Have a homemade Streetpass Relay

Sadly, I only have a later-revision WRT54G with the limited RAM and a WNR-2000 V3. I'm not sure if the WNR-2000 V3 can be used for this or not.

Tutorial [HOW-TO] Have a homemade Streetpass Relay

Sadly, it looks like the Linux method (method 3) I was using before no longer works. :( We'll have to wait, I suppose, for someone far more clever than the rest of us (like Duke) to find a way around the roadblocks Ninty keeps tossing up. Oddly - I just tried the windows method again, and my...

Tutorial [HOW-TO] Have a homemade Streetpass Relay

Hey, duke_srg, which version of Ubuntu 13 did you originally create your script to run on? I could also just place that on a drive and try.

Tutorial [HOW-TO] Have a homemade Streetpass Relay

Ahh. Understood. I figured I'd edit it now and try it tonight, but I don't want to make my work lappy do this during biz hours. I'll do that this evening then.

Tutorial [HOW-TO] Have a homemade Streetpass Relay

Hey, Duke_Srg, how do I edit the Nzone script? I downloaded nzone.sh (using the link you have on the first page of this thread), but when I attempted to open it for editing, I was informed that the file had invalid characters. Should I be opening it with something other than gedit?

Tutorial [HOW-TO] Have a homemade Streetpass Relay

Cool, duke_srg! I'll try that this evening when I get home. Oddly, last night, when I shut down Ubuntu and restarted, I somehow fried the script that HAD been working. I wiped my USB key and will just try fresh again. I emailed myself all the above info (and files Neo_Player made) so it...

Tutorial [HOW-TO] Have a homemade Streetpass Relay

Holy crap, it's like drinking through a fire hose. :) Going to dig around the script and see if I can find a way to slow it down a bit.

Tutorial [HOW-TO] Have a homemade Streetpass Relay

I was reading the "Method 3" you linked me to and figured that was the case. IT"S WORKING! Truly, you're THE MAN. If you're on Reddit, hit me up, I'll buy you Reddit gold. :) THANK YOU! I'm copying down all your instructions into a file so I can reproduce it as needed.

Tutorial [HOW-TO] Have a homemade Streetpass Relay

I'll start on this right now, and thank you SO much for your time! Hopefully, with the help you've provided, I can get this figured out, Linux newbie or no. :) My only question, and forgive me if I'm missing something obvious - the links to the two files (one and two) that you provided appear...

Tutorial [HOW-TO] Have a homemade Streetpass Relay

Neo_Player, Duke_SRG, I ran the script after installing the above-mentioned packages and software in Ubuntu 14.10, and got the following error: ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ sudo wget -O /tmp/nzone.sh http://nintendozone.no-ip.org/install; sudo chmod +x /tmp/nzone.sh; sudo /tmp/nzone.sh BASE16,GBATEMP...

If I have a brand-new Live USB of the latest Ubuntu, which sources do I add? I've located the area to add them, but which sources do I add, exactly? :) Thanks!

Tutorial [HOW-TO] Have a homemade Streetpass Relay

Aww, crud. I guess I can no longer Homepass, then. I'll putz with it some more and see if I can get one of the methods working. I DO have an old WRT54G router sitting around, but it's one of the crappier ones with low memory, so not sure that'll work. Thank you for your help, duke_srg! I...

Tutorial [HOW-TO] Have a homemade Streetpass Relay

So, the latest update seems to have killed the methods to use in Windows, correct? I mean, everything was dandy 'till my 3DS pulled the new update... and now (as has been posted here) it no longer connects to the NZ@MCD network due to a change in the encryption settings. Since you can't turn off...

Tutorial [HOW-TO] Have a homemade Streetpass Relay

I might get 5-8 streetpasses a WEEK, and that's only if I purposely go to a relay station, such as a local McDonald's or the Bestest of Buys. Otherwise, I get maybe *two* "real" streetpasses A MONTH. So this is relivatory! I'm really sorry to hear about your stolen 2DS. People can really suck...

Tutorial [HOW-TO] Have a homemade Streetpass Relay

Heh. I'm new here - been on this site a total of 6 hours total, so my apologies! :) I mis-read and thought your username had posted *precisely* what I was looking for, so I appreciate that, and the hard work that went into making HomePass "a thing". Despite living in a fair-sized city in the...

Tutorial [HOW-TO] Have a homemade Streetpass Relay

Bless you, Scrub Lord. I was coming here today specifically to find a way to slow down the MAC changes! Homepass is AWESOME, but with BASE256 changing the thing every two minutes, it's like trying to drink from a firehose - to much, too fast. I'll try your instructions when I get home...
