    This is a doddle of a mod. Using ceramic coated wire (the best thin but tough wire I have ever used) I was free to route pretty much any way I wanted without any adjustments to the shell.

    It's possible that if it hasn't fried something you could clean it and solder to the trace. This requires more skill than the person you had do this for you posesses. If you can get a better (steadier) pic to show us I'm sure we could give you a better idea if it's fixable.

    Completely agree, I've had to salvage some awful messes from folk who think it will be easy. I have over 20 years of soldering experience and I've seen some shocking abuses..... including jobs that were easier than the XL that still resulted in lifted pads and traces.

    Under mobo is easier imho. Neither are rock hard for someone vaguely competent with an iron though.

    No problems here with assorted class 10 Kingston cards. Have 3 and they all work just fine. (2x32 and a 64) Have to say I generally prefer Sandisk though.
