    Hardware GBA Backlight! (AGB-001)

If i play games on my modded GBA, the green led starts flickering red, or stays red a while, then goes back to green etc.. Maybe it's just an issue with rechargeable batteries in general but could it be an issue with the modded GBA ? (due to the solder points, more draw of current for the...

    Hardware GBA Backlight! (AGB-001)

Funny, I also 'tuned' my display next to my GBM ;) And I also made two GBA's, one black, one purple, but I ordered another black casing just in case (they are really well made, can always use a spare one in the future since i'm using my GBA so much now with this display..) Where did you buy the...

    Hardware GBA Backlight! (AGB-001)

I received my ribbon cables from Zerey and build it into a new GBA case (ebay) with a backlit LCD also from ebay. So the GBA looks completely new! I also used the solder "point 2" because the screen looked more like my GBM (on low birghtness) "point 1" was a bit too dim. Still got enough parts...

It's a little potentiometer which adjusts the contrast of the LCD screen.

    Hardware GBA Backlight! (AGB-001)

Today I received a hot-air soldering station (for another project) but i will try it once more. Regarding the chinese cable, if you look at the pictures closely you see some kind of small green (probably) pcb between the cable and the connector.. But i ordered some myself, so i can tell within...

    Hardware GBA Backlight! (AGB-001)

Also used a plain solder iron and some flux, but the tip is just a bit too big (guess 1.5mm), keep hitting two contacts at once making a mess.. and while cleaning it the cable always starts to melt (maybe a 0.5mm tip will help). Anyways, ordered two of those pre made cables for my 32pin gba's...

    Hardware GBA Backlight! (AGB-001)

I tried making the cable myself.. but i must admit my defeat! I cannot solder such small ribbon cable .. need to buy some better equipment.. but that will not justify the costs ;P So i will just order a ribbon from the chinese seller i guess.. already got the gba's and displays :) I also...

    Hardware GBA Backlight! (AGB-001)

The gameboy will be original for sure. But I doubt the screen will be from an original ags-101. But never the less, the quality of the 'replacement' screens are identical. Even with an original ags-101 screen the quality can differ. I'm going to order a batch of those replacement ags-101...

    Hardware GBA Backlight! (AGB-001)

Since i'm sick at home (the flu, no work for me today) i had time enough to be bordered with multimetering all the connectors on the 32pin agb-001. Ang guess what :sp: the pinouts are exactly the same as the ags-001 display! Except for pin 33 and 34, but they are there to give power to the...

    Hardware GBA Backlight! (AGB-001)

Okay, I received my GBA today and it's a 32pins version.. It looks exactly the same as the 40pins in this topic by KipMudz, but this is only the 'backside' of the mainboard :) The fpc-connector-side of the mainboard is totally different.. So i could just ignore the fpc connector and solder...

    Hardware GBA Backlight! (AGB-001)

Thanks, this was exactly what i was looking for! Just registered my account to thank you :) Just ordered some fcp connectors, flux and small copper wire to do this mod myself :) It's way more cheap this way than ordering this 'cable mod' from china ;) And i'm going to put in my old ags-001...
