    I'd try another type of media and make it DVD-R (DL?? is this supported? ) I find that the house brand at staples or circuit city thats dvd-r works well and are cheap.

    What he is saying that regardless of speed (3x or 6x) the wii will load the game properly because of the "wii disc read" command. The softmod needs to use "DVD-ROM disc" read command.

    As i thought initially. So does this mean there is no way around it? Unless modifications are done on the DVD-ROM firmware...but that kind of defeats the purpose of the softmod right?

    Well, don't listen to your friend. As you've read in the thread, the load times are due to current hardware limitation. Extended load times are inevitable. Email your friend the link to the thread.. the developers are live on the scene.

    What kind of knowledge is needed to understand the code being used for the backup loader.. What language is it... i want to get my hands dirty and try to make logical sense of the code. Perhaps my inputs to the project could be helpful then. I want to be part of this... testing.... ideas...
