    Homebrew flashcard-bootstrap: kernel replacement project

"Turns out some variants of this cart does in fact need bloating, so the inflator has returned..." lol what? Are they enforcing specific arm binary sizes or something? :P

DS Lite Top Screen Issue After New Housing Fitted

The ribbon cables for these consoles are known to be touchy. You have to make sure they are fully seated correctly. I had similar issue back in the day when I first reshelled my DS Lite and the console would just power off immedietely. I reseated top screen's cable and it worked fine after that.

    M3Adaptes

Oh yeah forgot about YSMenu. YSMenu's compatibility is incomplete but should still be better then the even more ancient stock firmware that M3DSReal comes with. :P

    M3Adaptes

You can give this a try: https://github.com/DS-Homebrew/nds-bootstrap/releases I happen to have this cart (Though I believe mine is not a fake) I tested and Twilight was able to launch Sonic Rush Adventure. Failed to boot Mario Kart for some reason not sure why. But unlike the old software...

Gathering DS flashcard knowledge - DIY "opencard" idea

Onboard nand wouldn't help with save patches but with not needing cart read patches. N-Card handles saves via a battery backed SRAM chip and handles saves similar to retail carts and avoids save patches in a similar way to the read patches in that it handles that on the hardware side via the...

Hardware Anybody ever heard of N-Cards?

No it seems games with AP still detect it. Not entirely sure how the AP measures in games work. N-Card predated most games that had it so not surprising it fails the AP checks.

Hardware Anybody ever heard of N-Cards?

All the DS flashcarts emulate some portion of the slot-1 protocol like the blowfish encryption and such. However most modern flashcarts use MicroSD cards these days so they have to patch games to handle the extra steps required to handle MicroSD access. However N-Card is unique in that it...

Is the TWL NAND different between an Old 3DS and a New 3DS?

Careful with what you do with DSi System Settings on a 3DS. If you go into Data Management it's gonna nuke a bunch of stuff off TWL Nand because it won't see valid TMDs for them. 3DS handles those (along with the tickets differently and it won't understand that. This will brick TWL_FIRM and...

Gathering DS flashcard knowledge - DIY "opencard" idea

Well you could pull off what Acekard did. AceKard R.P.G has a nand chip along side a MicroSD card. Must be a pretty expensive hardware design though...sucks that card is super rare these days. Can't find one for sell anywhere. :P

Homebrew SCFW: Custom Firmware & Kernel for Supercard

Ok tried loading GBA games to the SC Lite via YSMenu on my R4i Gold Pro. They run but appear to still need to be patched by SC's PC software...so this method is inherently inferior to this project. (I suspect Twilight's version might have same limitation?) So I'd say there'd still be value in...

Homebrew SCFW: Custom Firmware & Kernel for Supercard

Ahh I see. Would be great if there was a standalone app for that. I want one for my N-Cards but those cards require using a 19KB DLDI driver so I have to recompile newer homebrew that allows the older 32KB DLDI spec to use them on my N-Card. Twilight uses a crap ton of bootloaders (bootloaders...

Gathering DS flashcard knowledge - DIY "opencard" idea

The only cart I know of that doesn't patch games at all and handles things on the hardware side is N-Card. That old flash cart uses NAND for storage and thus doesn't need to patch games to patch them since MicroSD protocol requires extra steps to access them that would break timing and such on...

Homebrew SCFW: Custom Firmware & Kernel for Supercard

I see. Mine doesn't have rumble and confirmed that it does run GBA games so I got the better version of the two it looks like. :D I found my Super Card Lite on eBay by the way in-case you are looking to get one. He's selling them for around $30 shipped last I checked....maybe a bit pricey but...

Homebrew SCFW: Custom Firmware & Kernel for Supercard

Just got a SuperCard Lite (A DS Lite version with MicroSD support). Will this operate on that card? One thing to note is this card doesn't have a sram battery and being a DS oriented card it supposedly supports NDS games if booted with a passkey of some sort....though I'm not really interested...

    Bootleg overwrite potential

Yeah some of the old Detal carts don't quite get the cart protocol right or something. They don't work on 3DS for some reason and on DSi my MMD cart doesn't show up at all in SystemMenu. Similar to my og R4 in that respect. Not sure how viable this could be but you could try and run a rom dump...

    Bootleg overwrite potential

Also that cart seems to rely on hotswapping to do cheats anyways and you can't hotswap on a 3DS/DSi so it's kinda useless on anything besides a DS/DS Lite. :P

    Bootleg overwrite potential

Icon text hints that it's probably similar to the MMD cart I have. so not an N-Card in all likely hood. My MMD cart shows up as white icon with no text on my 3DS though. Is that one an autoboot cart? Might explain why the icon is black...they probably didn't design one since it wasn't meant to...

    Bootleg overwrite potential

Does it show up on DSi System Menu? If not, this may be a similar board to what the MaxMediaDock slot-1 cards use and that cart doesn't show up on DSi System Menu. Otherwise you could get nrioTool and check if it sees it as a N-Card. NrioTool is meant to run on a DSi though so you need to use...

How did this happen? Burn in from ~5 min of freeze time

Yeah that's just pixel retention/stuck pixels which aren't to be confused with dead pixels as those are usually a defect and aren't usually fixable. I suppose what happened with your console could happen in some circumstances but it's usually reversible unlike burn in which is only a thing on...

    Understading ancient GBA flash cartridges

Well the perticular seller I found for that SuperCard I posted about is based in Florida and was where I got a few of my N-Cards from. 3 day shipping is hard to beat with anything international. At least not if you want to spend a fortune on express shipping.... :P But yeah if I wanted to buy...
