@ThoD
Yeah, you're right.
I was fine with 30fps, until I saw 60.
Then I was fine with 60fps... Until I saw 140fps.
It's kind of how the induystry sucks you in, once you see the better thing, you can't stand what you currently have. Even though in all honesty 40fps is still perfectly playable lol.
Then again the computer I game on can only run TF2 at 30fps, so maybe my hate is justified /:
I always have my PC at 760p or 768p depending on the aspect ratio since I have a mid-range GPU and that lets me get more usable memory and processing power so I can get 60+FPS, but right now my monitor only goes up to 60Hz so can't really do much. I will always pick better framerate over resolution, as long as the display is clear enough to enjoy.
By the way, I know you are joking about the human eye, but I gotta say this before some idiot comes and misunderstands The human eye's limit is actually just under 1000FPS as that's the max possible amount of visual information the neurons and brain can process, but it takes considerable training to go above 250FPS (eg: average air force pilot can distinguish up to 380).
@ThoD
Technically, the human eye sees infinite fps because it just reflects light in real time and doesn't see in fps. The eye isn't the problem, it's the brain's speed.
As for real life, everything is Infinite fps, but the brain only processes it to appear no smoother than 1000fps, despite the eye sending it a billion fps worth of information.
MOST medical books that involve subjects on the neurons or eyes, the 1000FPS is based on the speed of light (can't see faster than light after all), speed of the proteins that transfer static throughout the neurons in your brain and the signals between eyes and brain, light resistance caused by the eye's layers and so on and also accounts for any "loss" that happens in the process as well.
I'm wearing glasses.
If such lack of distinction is unusual then it's probably because my vision is terrible, but that's why i added "personally" to the statement
It's just that you are used to 60FPS like the vast majority of people, so at first you don't notice a difference. The only time you will be able to distinguish the difference is if you spend a fair bit of time playing action games (or similar where there are a lot of actual frames), since you need to give your eyes time to adjust, then going back to 60 will feel as if it's "skipping".
It's like the dumb console gamers seeing a game on PC and not noticing a difference right away since they are used to 24-29.97FPS instead so their eyes can't tell the difference right away.
Playing the Judge Dredd arcade game prototype lol I can see why they didn't finish it but at the same time I think it would have turned out pretty good with some minor tweaks to the gameplay
