I mean, it's MUCH faster to just type normally rather than stopping to select the prediction and then resume typing only to stop again or having to double check everything to make sure auto-correct didn't turn your text into something NSFW
TBH typing is way slower IMHO (using an S7 Edge). You don't have to stop to select the prediction, you just swipe words in the keyboard, not even taking your finger off the screen, and it gets the right word most of the time. Then again "most of the time" leads to weird ass BS when it doesn't get it right, and that happens because people never double check. PS: Touch screens just aren't suited for typing.
Personally, instead of bothering with annoying swipes (enormous fingers), I hold with both hands and tap and can tap just as fast as I can on a desktop PC keyboard and I'm pretty goddamn fast at that one (type full page within 2 mins)!
Perhaps that works either 1. Using a different phone, 2. With some fingers different than mine, or 3. Holding the phone horizontally.
I myself tried to type using both hands all the time (because predictive errors also annoy me), but very often it gets the wrong key, e.g. "s" instead of "a", and I end up annoyed as hell erasing and retyping all the time.
