Nope, they are calculated with base 1024 which is 2^10, so they are a bit more than said.

Then, they are lying. GB is base 10. GiB is base 2.

I bought 8GB of RAM, not 8GiB. Unless they misslabeled the RAM, it is not base 2. And base 1024.... where did you even get that idea?

I meant that they calculate it with 1024 instead of 1000(made for ease).

I know what you mean, but it is wrong. GiB is not calculated with 1024, but simply in base 2.
