Explain the huge warning accumulation. I'm legitimately curious.

Most of it was from a while ago and from shitting on consistent noobs (a significant number of them were from hacksn5s4 iirc), which I can't really blame him for since I have 2 warning points for the same thing.

Most of the time however he was pretty helpful, and the warning accumulation is mostly irrelevant in this case anyway since the only thing he did that got the final ban was call out GalladeGuy for his homophobic crap.

hacksn5s4 hasn't broke any rules, he is just annoying according to mods
astronautlevel

Sure, but there's also a general tolerance of cancer - when half of temp blocks someone, then *maybe* it's a good idea to get rid of them, especially if they do the opposite of contribute on literally every thread.
DeslotlCL
DeslotlCL
That's not how it works. If the user doesnt break the rules mods can't ban him/her.
astronautlevel

Yes, they can. It's the job of the moderators to keep the community and website in good shape - when someone like hacksn5s4 is only removing from the quality of the site (he's now at 3000 shitposts!) it's not only the right of the moderators, but their responsibility to ban that person.
DeslotlCL

If we apply that logic, half of the forum members deserve to be banned and that hurts the forum in a certain way too. If you look at his posts, no one of them break the rules, they are just stupid questions that have been already answered but that afaik they dont break anything. The forums has it rules for a reason, if you break them you will get banned, i not, mods can't touch you.

Yes, half of the members would be banned and the community would be much better off. Also, look at not just his posts but also the shitstorm that surrounds all of them; he causes nearly every thread to derail into a flamewar, where he's being intentionally dense, everyone tells him no and stfu, but he doesn't listen.

Also some excerpts from the rules: "Before you start a topic, perform a search to see if the question or topic you wish to create has been made before." "Stay on topic" "When replying to a topic, don't; unless you have something meaningful to say"
DeslotlCL
DeslotlCL
he has been on topic, everyone keeps making new threads about things already answered and due to the search bar not displaying what you are searching for and mods know that. No user has been banned because of that. And about the last quote, i will say it again, half of the members would be banned because of that and believe it or not, it will hurt the forum.

More user = more view on ads = more money to the forums. See?

I'm not defending anyone, i'm just saying what i have seen in more than two years of looking at this forums.
pbanj

Because 90% of the users don't use ad block

Truth be told, there are far worse communities I won't name to avoid backlashes, knowing that a lot of tempers (some of them are really unhelpful too) are part of these communities.

If he's on off-topic, then how come a ton of his posts are "hidden from public view" with the reasoning being off-topic? He probably has more hidden posts than any other user. Although other users have done it too, none of them have been here for a year with 3000 posts. Also that adblock reasoning is flawed as hell.

Ad revenue reasoning*

Also, Vins, just because there are worse communities doesn't mean we shouldn't work to get rid of cancer on this one.

What do you think I try to do for a while now?

Just loom at the most recent thread I created, it proves my point about who don't contribute but yet complain about the lack of action.
DeslotlCL

Well, this wont lead to anywhere. Just let the mods do they work and if you feel they are doing it wrong, pms exists for a reason.
