Which FFIV? D: Japanese original is awesome, English localisation is too easy, GBA version is cool though USA version in particular had some localisation derps and overall music was kinda dull I think there's a restoration patch somewhere, PSP version was the best FFIV version and well worth getting, DS/Steam version of FFIV is filth though i suppose Augment was neat
Well is all the same story, but the Most complete one with the after years would probably be best, since it is complete story. You can mention all the variations of them if you want. Though GBA is based off the wonderswan game so, there is that.
I secretly want a wonderswan ;w; maybe next time I'm in Japan...
Same story but different translations (and minor quirks).
I think the psp version takes the cake in that it's very much the definitive package, I'm somewhat saddened the 3D version is on steam and not it.
Well i guess, to be honest i wasn't sure why they didn't have the 3D model ones for the psp game while FFIII is the same across all ports. It doesnt make sense. But while the 3D rendered game looks and feel more presentable to moderen standards, perhaps it was easier to do the classic way for quicker developement time and additional content.
Like I'd do a review on FFIV but I've got other games in mind at the moment: Jotun, Tales of Berseria, God Eater 1/2, maybe some NISA games. And then again FFIV is somewhat well known and quite old so it seems a little boring to make a review for. As for retro stuff in general, maybe I'll talk to Chavo or whoever last did GBAtemp recommends and write something for that.
Personally I love good sprite work over 3D models any day but FFIII and FFIV run so poorly... 15fps for battle animation is just needless :/ that being said it still gives me far less headaches than stuff like this http://puu.sh/r3kH4/185aa970af.jpg
The clumsy spritework blows my mind.
Well i mean, not many people now appreciate 2D sprites, while i still like how megaman on nes looks and games lik Shovel knight and Donkey Kong country. Is just underappreciated concept with HD and 3D being priority in visuauls in the market. Games like Blazblue, gilty gear and skull girls are still impressive
Sometimes people just need to put effort into presentation of their visuals. A game like retro city rampage is a perfect example. And so is Shantae, guacemelee, Pier solar, even some games on sega megadrive like Sonic, Wonderboy, which is critisize in comparison to Snes for graphics, colors and music.
Well not to shame sonic 4 games but Sonic mania is what everyone wanted. Honestly is not all about speed but good level design and animation is all it takes to make sonic fun.... and adding new gameplay abilities. I miss using super sonic at will instead of being limited to story completion.
