Walmart has scammed me, refused to offer a refund and also stored my personal information at physical checkout without legally acquiring my consent and with no recourse to have it deleted. Amazon just works and even though theyre scummy they at least do what they say.

Amazon hasn't done all those things to people?

Amazon actually has a functioning and generous refund policy. Almost anything can be returned without question and if it never arrived they know. I've never had it not work and I've never heard of it not working. When you use it the storage of your personal info is implied partially out of necessity because they're exclusively a delivery site So yeah I believe so

Walmart shouldn't be saving my card number, asking for my phone and scanning my face just to buy food in person... I'm already there, they don't need to know who I am to bring it to me, and they shouldn't have a copy of my bank details, that is just begging for them to be stolen. that goes for every brick and mortar store using one of those Toast kiosks too.

Online you can at least use digital proxy cards which, yes is also a singular point of failure, but you're not passing around your bank details to every company you come into contact with. You can't do that at a real store.

Check out at the register then

The register is not open all hours of the day.

Nothing about that changes what I've said. The self-checkout is unnecessarily invasive and Walmart is very bitchy about refunds.

You're preaching too much into data fear.

I didn't know drawing my boundaries and giving my personal opinion was "preaching fear".
