It's a "privacy" browser based on Chromium that doesn't protect your privacy but rather shares your browsing habits and data with other companies. Having a browser that lets you earn awards and spend crypto and interact with an AI chat assistant is a massive red flag. Companies will grift on any trend that's been on people's minds, lacking the intention that it provides.

Brave feels like a big grifting operation much like DuckDuckGo, where they boast privacy but do the opposite

You'd be best served with a privacy fork of Firefox (easy) or a combination like Firefox + uBO + Arkenfox user.js (a bit more work but not too hard)
