the amount of effort it takes to get things working just isn't worth it as is
what really settled it was spending 5 hours going down a rabbit hole of trying to get something to run that requires .NET dependencies that should've taken 5 minutes, and realizing it's just gonna be this kind of joy with a new issue every week anyways
even if i was mentally open to dealing with a high friction OS where you have to DIY everything, i can't really afford that anyways being in freelance
this is my 5th or 6th venture in to trying to fully swap over to linux and its gotten better over time but still just needs more that can suit my needs
the customizability, responsiveness, and sheer flexibility with audio systems using software alone was fantastic, but the tradeoffs are just too much for me
Its not for everyone. I was on EndeavourOS for a couple of years and had to troubleshoot a lot of things. Moved to Fedora and its been relatively smooth barring the initial setup.
However, I don't have niche applications so it works for me. Its making fantastic progress, but Linux still isn't ready for mass adoption.
