You're both wrong, but thatalso illustrates my point perfectly - First, Jesus never wanted to be part of any religion, and God does not support religion. Second, Jesus loves everyone, rich or poor, but he hung out with the more unfortunate because no one else would.

...And there's the problem. That lack of understanding is what gives Jesus the bad rep. He didn't come to condemn the world, but to save people from their self-destruction. Only a true Christian would know what that means.

I'm wrong that Jesus is the figurehead of Western religion????

Alright lad I am ready to hear about the great Buddhist state of America, let's have it

I should clarify what I meant.

You're right in that people have made Jesus the figurehead of Western religions, but to be a figurehead was never His goal in life. In fact, Jesus was often rejected, even outright ridiculed, by the religious leaders of his time, as his teachings went against the selfish core of their structure.

Again, I agree I have no issue with Jesus and I think most things he taught are great

But the reason people don't like Jesus is because of what his self proclaimed followers have done and claimed was his message

I also personally feel Jesus would be upset if he knew people were worshipping him - since I think he was a fairly simple kind hearted man who wanted to bring some compassion to Judaism

You obviously didn't read Matthew 21:1-11.

Or even later on in verses 15-16: "When the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonders that He did and the children shouting in the temple complex, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” they were indignant and said to Him, “Do You hear what these children are saying?” “Yes,” Jesus told them. “Have you never read: You have prepared praise from the mouths of children and nursing infants?"

The Bible was not written by Jesus

Very true. The Bible also has inconsistencies, including differing accounts on certain events by the Apostles. Still, it's generally regarded as accurate because when it has been analyzed, several key events seems to align well with what historians believe happened.

Does that mean there's proof that Jesus is God? Well... I tend to think so, but then again, I haven't done a deep-enough dive into it; I accept it by faith. "Those who believe without seeing are blessed." - John 20:29b

However, your skepticism has actually been inspiring me to look into this further. I would hope you'd do the same, but I'll understand if you don't want to.

"it's generally regarded as accurate"

One part of something being true doesn't make the rest true. If a historical fact is accurate, it doesn't mean the dialogue is accurate

The Koran you will find also references biblical stories you believe are true, but obviously you don't believe the book is true overall

Interesting that you link to a book that is not even considered a Bible in of itself. Upon reading, it sounds more like Jefferson wanted to condense the gospels, but he did it to such a degree that he ultimately wasn't satisfied with it.

I must ask - why do you doubt so much? What is the driving force behind your skepticism of Christianity, Jesus, the Bible, and the afterlife? Were you not raised in a Christian household?

Why do you doubt Islam and Buddhism and Zoroastrianism?

I asked you a simple, yet concise question. You turn around and try to make it about me not believing these other things. I would have preferred a direct answer instead of a question to my question, but since you asked...

Because these are selfish religions. Selfish religions about achieving utopia by "bettering" oneself, and that is more the core focus than "do unto others". Sure, Christianity promotes "taking the log out of your eye" first, but the ultimate goal is to accept God's grace to save us from sin and corruption, not just to achieve some higher standard, which is why we reach out to other people.
