I suppose it depends upon the definition of the term "Lost." The level in question was assembled by the developer, which means it exists and is accessible during normal gameplay. We will refer to a level that meets these conditions as "found." So, at the start of a Found Level, the level cannot be Lost.

If the player has the option to explore the Found Level backwards (ie Backwards exploration is not blocked like in the original Super Mario Bros.), it is simply the traversal of a Found Level in the opposite direction. Therefore, a Found Level could also be considered a Lost Level only if the definition of "lost" means "previously traversed." However, this definition would be contested by various communities.
