Nope. Doesn't matter which method you install BootMii as. If you install it as boot2, it can offer additional protection for bricks.

Ohhh, I see. Right now I'm discovering why I am having trouble with my RVL-001 Wii where sometimes it can boot in normally, while sometimes it can boot to a black screen. Are you able to help me with this by any chance?

As of writing this, it's on and Im trying to dump my GameCube games to play them on my Family Edition Wii because theres weird sounds going on in the Disc drive that I can't figure out.

After installing BootMii as boot2, it can take a while for the system to boot (around 8 seconds from what I recall) before you get to the System Menu. If you hold RESET whilst powering, you boot into the BootMii menu.

Can it read discs normally? If not then the drive must need replacing, these tend to wear out and fail a lot.

Well, for my issue, it sometimes turns on and boots in normally and then it takes forever. This wii can't do boot2 BootMii and only as IOS.

Becsuse I can't reply to your comment for some reason, yes it can read disccs normally. although i was having an issue at some point where I couldn't boot into Gamecube Games because of Dios mios but I've removed it and it's working fine again?

Booting games a la Nintendont also works fine
