Installing an additional browser is not something invasive. Your parents shouldn't be against this. Changing the OS is potentially problematic, but I'm repeating myself: Get a cheap SSD and install some Linux and Windows 10.

Who in their right mind would be against that you learn something. Many people your age don't even know how to use a PC at all. They are limited to swiping on smartphone without even understanding the slightest what is happening and without understanding file system, folders and files.
Not doing anything with a PC can't be the goal.

When my father bought a PC in 1994 he told me to never try and change anything. The effect was the PC was more or less unused until he fully lost interest and I did stuff anyway.
Later he gave that PC away to some other family and they probably trashed it right away.
