I recently started – agnostic myself – reading in the Quran and the Bible using multiple English and German translations on a tablet at once.
If you actually start reading these things you will be surprised what you will find: Violence, obsolete advise, hostility, war and simply nonsense (which must be interpreted to understand it actually is supposed to mean something else – yeah, right).

Belief of an all-mighty, all-good, all-knowing entity – let's say God – can be comforting. The picture of God in so-called religious texts is blasphemy at best.
I recommend staying away from dubious and radical →sects← (my definition includes established religious groups). Then you don't have to fear a punishing God.

But in the end there is no proof for such an existence… which leaves faith. If you want.

You can fear your father but also trust for him to provide for you

I would expect demons to be most afraid of god

Those are Christian-based demons (former angels.) I am a Pagan demon, the Christian god is just another war god with an ego

@x65943 If your kid has to fear you, you're doing it wrong. Also: She/He will never (really) trust you.
Neither true respect nor real love can grow on the basis of fear.

A kid, even having made a big mistake, would never have to fear a good parent.

I've seen the end result too often → :(
