I think people say it, as they have no real influence over the thing they say it about.
Considering that normies sabotage our influence by only caring when it's too late (by still giving them money to get screwed over), you can probably see where we're coming from when we say it.
They think what they use to have was amazing maybe so but also act like today's generation is a nightmare when the only thing that's really changed is accountability.
