Dammit, i'm feeling a lot of hypocrisy from you, not to mention the little ''fanboyish'' chat you had with emigre on the shoutbox.
Foxi4
Foxi4
Shoutbox is a place where we have fun and joke around. I follow both Sony and Nintendo. Still in two minds about Microsoft, but I have to admit, they make good, well thought-through hardware. I'll have to buy one of'em XBoxes.
Yepi69
Yepi69
Honestly, I like Sony but I can't stand much of what they did was to take cash out of the players wallet.
Foxi4
Foxi4
At least they didn't release 17+ games during one generation.
Yepi69
Yepi69
Are you targetting my age?
Foxi4
Foxi4
No, I'm targeting 17+ Mario games on the Wii alone, without even mentioning DS games. ;)

People wouldn't complain about you so much if you weren't factually wrong on your posts in a consistent fashion.
Yepi69
Yepi69
Sure sure, so I'm guessing you're Mr.right all the time.
Guild McCommunist
Guild McCommunist
I'm not Mr. Right, the facts are. Like literally there's so much evidence disproving your claim that you have to be blind and/or in denial to say it's an "opinion".
Yepi69
Yepi69
If by evidence you mean angry fan boys, then ok.
I was just making my own opinion, only some got insulted, as I said: ''If the cap fits...''

The members of this community have a problem with differentiating between "having an opinion" and "being empirically wrong". You can have an opinion on whether a given piece of art is "pretty" or "not", but when your opinion is "the sun rises in the west", you're being factually wrong on top on "an idiot" - it's a fact that it rises in the east and it can be proven. These two terms are worlds apart.
Yepi69
Yepi69
Exactly, you just answered my own question ''The members of this community have a problem with differentiating between "having an opinion" and "being empirically wrong".''

You pulled the PS3 sales information straight out of your ass, I'm not entirely sure what you expected. The sales went up and stayed up since the price was dropped to $250, and one of the core factors behind this price drop was removing the no longer used PS2 hardware, such as the ES and GS chips as well as some misc. electronics.
Foxi4
Foxi4
Like, I can understand why one would be upset as a PS3 Fat owner - I think it's despicable that those units were also stripped of OtherOS and PS2 BC despite being perfectly capable of them and I think that was wrong, but this only applies to this first batch of PS3's - Slims and Super Slims are not capable of PS2 BC and no longer have OtherOS functionality in the firmware.
Foxi4
Foxi4
This step was made to keep the firmwares uniform. It was a shit step, I'll admit that, but the point that BC was less desirable than a lower price still stands - despite losing both BC AND OtherOS, the PS3's sold BETTER than ever before and actually began bringing a profit home, which is great.

I'm sorry but I am sooooooo tired of this talk, not to mention I hate being in a good mood then logging in on GBATemp and finding these comments of wars I dropped out.

I wasn't even being rude here, not sure what your problem is - I merely outlined the core issue here. Turns out cheap NextGens are better than expensive NextGen+LastGen's - that's all there is to it. If you don't believe me, check Sony's profit statements - they're public.

I'm trying to be civil here and present not my opinion but facts on the matter that you may or may not be aware of. I'm not trying to be a buzzkill, enjoy your stay at the Temp.

I know you are, its just, its gaming and its two companies who just want for us, players, to have fun.
I just wanna fit in with the community, I'm a member since 2010 but, at heart, I'm a new member.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
    +1
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm

  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds

It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
