A few years ago having a stockpile of toilet paper was a sign of wealth.
Nowadays, maybe they've got some fancy 5-ply stuff they want to show off.
Who knows.

"A few years ago having a stockpile of toilet paper was a sign of wealth."
So I was wealthy for a while without even knowing? I've had a stockpile of toilet paper at home since I can think.

To the initial question: No idea. Some people like to collect various designs printed on (dogs, Christmas/winter, flowers, letters, wild animals… whatever). Collecting is a weird thing in general.

2 years ago you would've been cancelled and called a demon for owning 2 packs of toilet paper.

Nah. That didn't happen. Nobody called me a demon.

Heard the neighbors discuss and moan about missing paper, opened the roof window and threw out a pack. → Silence. I didn't even buy any packs during the shortage. "Those weird assholes who hoard things make them unavailable!!" Sure.

Their was a bigger fear of companies not having people go to work so no workers = no product = empty shelves = needing your permission to "borrow some TP" instead of them being able to buy as much as they needed.

Nah, there was a mass hysteria for absolutely no reason. Nobody stockpiled anything else (except maybe sanitizer), even when there were actual shortages of some products. But toilet paper was special for some reason.

Everyone thought their would be some type of massive taco bell explosion symptoms like every night.

I happen to have a stockpile because then I don't have to think about it all the time, but I was like that before COVID too. Brain no work with memory stuff.
