If it was that easy... Can you reproduce this on a modern writer?
Whatever I try, I get the 4x for older media but only 8x,16x for newer media (including those Verbatim DVD-R). And I can set the drive to overspeed: Then it will also offer 18x and 20x. I've read it will go to 24x with certain Taiyo Yuden media.

It is only really working with Imgburn,Sinchen.
You can "force" the Speed here (by adding the DVD-R):
From my "newer" DVD-RW Drives,like LG and that Kind,it mostly works.
