yes but characters only take up 2 or 4 bits and assuming there are 500 million unecessary commas, they would take up only 12.5 mb total

It makes the linguist inside of me furious that you'd deem any periods at the ends of sentences ‘unnecessary’, even though I forget them myself, sometimes (mainly in IM).
