I don't mind the RGB. But it's weird that literally all of them have similar setups with the Nanoleaf, a Ramaworks keyboard, Raid sponsors, Best Setup rankings, top 10 tech lists etc, etc. They're all cookie cutter. It's freaky.
I wouldn't even mind if they actually talked about the product. That's the worst part. I know I'm a hypocrite saying that as someone reviewing the same circle of little tech products they get, too, but they get millions of views for just holding the product box in front of a camera and saying nothing.
And the ego. Those massive tech unboxings where they scoff, like UGH Razer, another mouse? They're spoilt and act like they deserve more than what they get. I've seen some just toss crap away out of frame cuz it's cheap and thus not worth flexing with.
What Shaun said, my major gripe about those channels is that they don't actually review the device, they just list the tech specs and give some "first impressions" and that's it. Some go as far as to run a benchmark, but most don't.
Not quite what you're talking about, but it really annoys me how Linus Tech Tips videos are advertised, like "You Don't Need a Graphics Card!" with a thumbnail with the same implication, but it's actually a video talking about streaming services. Like yeah, it relates to the content of the video, but...
"Not quite what you're talking about" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=shyFnRVgvDw
the fact that linus has dropped enough stuff for this guy to make 8 of these videos says a lot
@banjo2 he addresses this a lot actually, it's simply because clickbait sells and he's a business out to make money. At one point they promised to tone down/get rid of the clickbait, but the money they make off it is too good to pass up so they just deal with it.
I like Hardware Unboxed and Gamers Nexus. They are excellent tech youtubers. Linus Tech Tips isn't bad either. Especially when they stood up against Nvidia defending Hardware Unboxed.
