community run-games have all their songs, skins, and whatnot made by the community, a good example is osu! and another good example is stepmania, which is so community run that the main builds of the game aren't updated anymore so it's recommended you play on community builds
and by a few, I mean 2 from monstercat, which is a record label that seems to pay artists pretty decently, although, they have a bandcamp, so if you really wanted to support the artists, buying music from there would make more sense
often the official songs don't have custom variants. also the official songs have higher quality layouts and etc.
if i liked an artist and liked beat saber (i do) I would definitely be interested in buying one of them
I mean, once you start playing rtyhmn games long enough, you stop caring about the songs or maybe that's just me, cause at this point, I would play this https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=sC0cvwnG0Ik if it had a good beatmap/simfile/*insert term for rythmn game I don't play*. And, if there are more fun maps available for free, why bother?
Huh, for me personally, osu! and other rythmn games became much better when I went "you know what? Fuck music" and starting looking for fun maps/simfiles instead of looking for maps/simfiles of songs I like
I cant listen to music as the only thing I'm doing, it doesnt work.
When I play beat saber with a track I recognise or like, it feels like I'm a part of the music. My body and soul link to it, I understand things about the music I never would have expected.
I think with a normal rhythm game you're just pressing buttons on command. Sure with beat saber you're waving your arms on command but that physical connection makes it more real.
I don't care about score, I just listen and enjoy myself. It's thereputic
