VR is still too expensive if it has no games to play on it. My "noticeably changes the power consumption of the town" PC rig has decades of games to play on it.

I mean, it's a thing that's existed for decades vs a thing that's existed for like 5 years

Don't you go erasing the virtual boy! Mass produced VR has been around longer than some of the people commenting on this status

I meant good vr has existed for like 5 years

The virtual boy is more than good, it is perfection

everything is expensive when you don't need it and affordable when you do :3

The Quest 2 has a virtual boy emulator and supports color mods for VB games cough cough

@FAST6191 you must not be looking in the right places. You tend to come back with the argument that there’s nothing worth playing (as do a lot of others)
That being said
I’m realizing VR has awful software promotion. And oculus has made more terrible quest 2 ads than anyone cares to see.

But if you ever decide to give it another go, I can show you quite a bit. The only game genre VR is currently (severely) lacking in is MMORPG’s.

Also, about the status, some people(like me) don't see vr as a good investment, but do see building a pc as a good investment
Julie_Pilgrim

it's all about whether or not you see value in it

Well I assure you someday you’ll look at VR and think “that’s a necessity now”
And someday it likely will be. Even if not for a very long time-
Although there’s not much reason to keep talking you into it yet if you can’t afford it. And at the same time the only reason you want it is for something that’s pretty much Osu but different
Julie_Pilgrim
Julie_Pilgrim
"for something that’s pretty much Osu but different" they are completely different games, just cause they're rythmn games doesn't mean they're similar, you wouldn't call Celeste "pretty much Mario 3"

Welp
Oh speaking of
Beat Saber just got some new stuff

Get VR
Julie_Pilgrim
Julie_Pilgrim
I'll consider it after building a pc

If you’re considering it then get a 1060 at minimum. Or an RX580
Julie_Pilgrim
Julie_Pilgrim
Also speaking of, you seemed to suggest that there's not much reason, since I care about one vr game, but I'm willing to spend copious amounts of money on rythmn games, I love the genre

I mean- there’s several rhythm great games, but the average non-VR user only ever hears about a certain beat saber.
Everyone and their mom knows about beat saber- and if they don’t know what it is, they still know it exists

Again
I’m realizing that the marketing... isn’t there for the games

"you must not be looking in the right places. You tend to come back with the argument that there’s nothing worth playing (as do a lot of others)"
Sell me on it then. What games do I want to get that are not worth just buying an hour at the local computer game cafe? What will I want to lose myself in. What will I want to get all my mates around to play?
Mama Dizzys
Mama Dizzys
Well I couldn’t give a very good answer to that without knowing what genres you enjoy
