No. You can run Win 7-10 without a key; you just can't change the wallpaper, everything else still works.

I wish I could install it and then just dual boot then, but for some reason when I flash the cd images I have to a USB stick, none of them work as bootable, it says no partition table or something

Use Rufus.

which itself is a windows program and in wine I can't get it to reckognize the USB drive plugged in x3

that tutorial is for how to make a USB drive with ubuntu, doesn't work with windows x3 I guess I have to find some different windows machine and run rufus on that x3

I don't know if I want to try windows 10, the interface is so cluttered, maybe there is some mod for it

honestly a first for me too hear someone criticize it for being cluttered. now I'm curious too as to what flavor of linux you use just to see what the ui looks like
