I need to give it another shot. I've tried to play the first one 2 or 3 times and always give up on the investigation of the dude that got killed during the filming of that samurai show. Just based on the little I played, Danganronpa is better at making the investigations interesting, even if they're kind of a necessary evil in these games.
the third case investigations of each AA tend to be a slog. weird pattern. i do think the "point and click" part is handled much better by DR, and I do like the high octane class trials, but i think the overall characters and writing got me more, in AA, making it worth it. there's so many facets in favor of either. gosh.

(1/2) @Chary i respectfully disagree. I've beaten the original trilogy recently and no case 3 was bad. Turnabout Samurai did come close to mediocrity but after the middle it starts being so good, I am one of the few people that likes Turnabout Big Top, and Recipe for Turnabout

(2/2) was pretty good. And while yeah, i agree investigations aren't handled the best, but sometimes they're REALLY good, like: Middle-End of 1-4, End of 1-3, 2-4, 3-5, etc.
I think the 4/5 cases of each game are the exception to the rule. 1-3 is slow, but it at least builds up the friendship between Maya and Phoenix since that's one of the most important factors to the trilogy. 2-3 is just a mess all the way through, with weird case logic, forgettable characters, and so much backtracking. 3-3 is the weakest by default of an incredibly fast moving stacked plot of the rest of the game
