Tell him that a Pokemon follows you around. But tell him if he names it your name, the Pokemon with your name with in theory, follow you around and can make you battle other Pokemons and tell you what to do. While saving the world at the same time.

Hm.. the “Pokémon follows you” thing was enough to gain a bit more of his interest, but I’m not sure if it’s enough to get him to jump into it..
