I guess you can classify that as propaganda... perhaps?
I would classify it as bad old "suit it up for current times/audience/censors" that was so typical in late 80s/early 90s at least in my homeland, and that seems to have made a comeback with things like "Netflix's Evangelion".
Whatever the case I personally don't make it politic, but I really despise the lack of accuracy and general bullshitness of the practice.
