I get the meme, but sincerely whoever first thought tilt/gyro controls were a good idea should get lynched, there's nothing more annoying that clunky AF inaccurate controls like tilt/gyro, especially on portable systems where you have to tilt the screen as well!:/

Actually, I kinda like motion controls in MK8, and you don't even need to look at the gamepad if you have a TV attached. My only complaint is that I'm weak, so flailing around a heavy controller full of technology and a battery is sure tiresome, and even dangerous without some sort of a strap.

Also, either the gyro or accelometer are 12bits on the 3DS, which is higher than the "average" 10bits or 8bits everyone else uses. Afaik the Wii MotionPlus used either 10bits or 9bits, and the one in the 3DS is most likely lower noise too due to being newer and technology advancements and stuff.

Well to be fair, they do work well if you know how to use it, at least on the 3DS/Switch. If you play MK8 online for instance, once in a while the person who always comes first is using tilt controls.

You are forgetting one thing though, in MK8, if you use motion controls, the game uses steering assist, that's why it's easy to come in first... As for the 3DS gyro, it's are what made me hate tilt controls, it was over-sensitive and you had to tilt the entire system (which included the screen and 3DS screens have terrible viewing angles)!

I was talking about the 3DS though, my bad it should be MK7, I haven't played MK8 online much. Like you can find a lot of times where people come in first with gyro controls, or at least among 1,2,3,4. You're right about the screen though.
