It's annoying AF! I'll be watching something, wifi gets slow for half a second, but even the cached part of the video suddenly drops to unwatchable resolutions, so I have to reload the entire thing if I want to even be able to tell what I'm looking at! I'll be watching 720p videos then it suddenly drops to a shitty blurry 240p out of nowhere!

I hate them if that wasn't clear enough:P But yeah, I just can't stand it, video has all been loaded (grey bar throughout), wifi gets slow for just ONE second and entire video turns into a blurry mess and also gets cached as such, so have to refresh the page like two-three times to get it back to proper resolution or manually changing every time, why no setting like "480p/720p minimum"?

I feel you man, my wifi goes slow for like 3 seconds and my video just goes all the way from like 1080p to 144p

This still happens if you manually select your resolution first? Usually as you go to a video, the resolution is set to auto, you can see it in brackets beside the resolution, so when it's on auto it does that. Clicking on the same resolution removes the auto lowering thing.

For me it happens every now and then even with manually selecting, which is the main reason it annoys me. I'll manually set it to 720p, but if I stay for long on the video (eg: long video) or I move on to the next one, it reverts back to "auto" and then drops the resolution to 240p or less! I don't get why youtube turns all blurry in lower resolutions honestly either...

There is a setting in YouTube that lets you check a box that says I have a slower internet connection, lower resolution etc, try messing with that?

I have, only thing it did was lower the resolution even more often! Also, it half-turns the page into a mobile-like version, which I hate the layout of

Ah what a bummer. The only other option I can think of is to use a chrome extension, not sure if the one I used to use is still there.
