Hi!!

Ia have hooked my old homebrewed Wii to a wonderful Panasonic CRT with Composite. Everything is running fine in 60 Hz.
There is one single issue with a VC Neo Geo Title named "Last Resort". To run it, i needed to turn on Region Free Everything in Priiloader.
When I launch Last Resort from the NeoGeo Virtual Console, the image appears to be in 16:9 — but it’ seems not true widescreen. It’s actually a 4:3 image with black bars added top and bottom (letterboxed), which only looks like 16:9.
When I switch my CRT from 4:3 to 16:9 mode to “compensate”, the image gets even more horizontally compressed, which confirms it’s not genuine 16:9 content — the TV is stretching an already letterboxed 4:3 signal.
So the Wii appears to be outputting a 4:3 signal, but the game adds letterbox bars internally, resulting in a squished, pillarboxed-within-letterboxed mess.
Other VC titles (e.g. SNES games like Axelay) display correctly in 4:3 without any issues.
Has anyone found a fix — either via Priiloader video patches or WAD editing — to force the correct 4:3 output for NeoGeo VC titles?
I would apprechiate any suggestion how to run NeoGeo Games authentic as possible. I also tried the Emulator (with correct size), but sadly i have Glitches.

Hi. Let me try the Last Resort virtual reality game on my PAL Wii.

Have you tried the following?

Aspect Ratio Shortcut
  1. Open the Home Menu while inside the game.
  2. Select Operations Guide.
  3. With a Nunchuk attached, hold Z + A + 2 simultaneously.
  4. You should hear a sound confirming the change, allowing the game to run in 240p and correct 4:3 aspect ratio rather than stretched, which is typical for Neo Geo VC titles.
