    every time you see the prompt telling you that the Wii U needs to restart, just turn off the console and reboot it and it shouldn't bug you for a little while; when it does, just repeat the step.

    What I do is just turn off autodownload software and turn off stand-by operations and the Wii U never autoupdated since.
