    I stand corrected. I didn't use a packaged kip, I created one from my switch using this method, though that would not solve it being firmware specific. So this begs two questions. 1) If I wanted to upgrade firmware, would the workaround be to upgrade using a fat32 formatted card, then recreate...

    You are correct in your statement about his current situation. But, he can patch in the exFAT support directly to the loader. This is how mine is set up.
